April 2009 traffic reported for Frontier and Lynx
Frontier Airlines Holdings has announced preliminary traffic results for April 2009 for both its mainline operation and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lynx Aviation.
Mainline results for April 2009 saw revenue passenger miles (RPMs) decrease by 17.5% to 700,781,000 from 849,506,000 and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs) was down 16.1% to 874,861,000 from 1,042,659,000 in the same period last year.
This resulted in a load factor of 80.1%, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points (pp) over April 2008's figure of 81.5%. The airline carried 771,138 passengers, a 12.3% decline from 878,837 in the same period last year.
The figures for Lynx Aviation in April 2009 show that RPMs increased by 3.8% to 25,406,000 from 24,481,000 and that capacity was up 12.0% to 47,292,000 ASMs from 42,218,000.
This resulted in a load factor for April 2009 of 53.7%, a decrease of 4.3 pp compared with April 2008's figure of 58.0%. During the month Lynx carried 73,509 passengers, a 20.8% increase from 60,851 carried in April 2008.
Lynx's passenger yield was 19.69 cents, up 1.53 cents or 8.4% from the same period last year, with passenger unit revenue increasing by 0.5% to 10.58 cents.
