American Eagle's June 2009 and 1H09 traffic released
American Eagle Airlines has reported its traffic and that of its wholly-owned subsidiary Executive Airlines for June 2009 and for the first half of the calendar year.
In June, American Eagle recorded 649,509,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs), down 5.9% on June 2008's 690,237,000. Available seat miles numbered 818,758,000, a 9.4% decrease from last June's 903,643,000.
This resulted in a load factor of 79.3%, down 2.9 percentage points (pp) from 76.4%. Passengers carried totalled 1,450,029, a fall of 6.7% from the 1,554,614 passengers in June 2008.
In the first half of 2009 (1H09), the airline's RPMs were down 9.0% to 3,449,988,000 from 3,791,185,000 in 1H08. ASMs were cut by 8.6% to 4,796,662,000 from 5,250,774,000 for the respective periods.
The 1H09 load factor for Eagle was 71.9%, a drop of 0.3 pp from the 72.2% achieved in 1H08. Passengers carried in the first half of the year numbered 7,632,324, a 10.2% drop compared with 8,495,663 in 1H08.
Executive Airlines' June RPMs reached 50,119,000, up 7.7% from 46,538,000 in June 2008, while ASMs were also up, by 2.9%, to 79,375,000 from 77,146,000.
Executive's June load factor was 63.1%, 2.8 pp up on 1H08's 60.3% and passengers carried totalled 251,437, an increase of 13.6% over last June's 221,281.
For the first half of 2009, Executive's RPMs were 270,345,000, a 4.3% fall compared with 282,505,000 in 1H08. ASMs were ostensibly level with 474,575,000 in 1H09 versus 474,477,000 in 1H08.
The 1H09 load factor dropped by 2.6 pp to 57.0% from 1H08's 59.5%. Passengers numbers grew by 2.2% in 1H09 to 1,344,605 from 1,315,540.
