American Eagle and Executive Airlines January 2009 traffic announced
American Eagle Airlines has reported its January 2009 traffic figures along with those of its subsidiary, Executive Airlines.
Eagle’s own revenue passenger miles (RPMs) fell by 18.2% from 588,005,000 in January 2008 to 480,994,000 in January 2009. Capacity over the respective months, in available seat miles (ASMs), was reduced from 888,476,000 to 771,966,000. This resulted in a load factor decrease of 3.9 percentage points (pp) from 66.2% to 62.3% year over year. Passengers carried by American Eagle numbered 1,070,636 in January 2009, a 17.9% decrease on 1,304,531 in January 2008.
Executive Airlines reported RPMs for January 2009 of 40,932,000, 13.7% down on January 2008’s figure of 47,436,000. ASMs dropped by 4.5% to 80,623,000 from 84,422,000 over the respective period.
Executive’s load factor for January 2009 was 50.8%, a 5.4 pp drop from 56.2% last January. Passenger numbers decreased by 7.2% year-on-year from 217,041 to 201,503.
