Allegiant Air is to establish a new base in Los Angeles, with nonstop service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning on 1 May.
The low-fare carrier plans to launch with flights to LAX from 12 markets already served by the carrier. First up will be Grand Junction, CO, and Medford, OR on 1 May. On 2 May, services from Bellingham, WA, and Missoula, MT, begin, followed on 3 May by Monterey, CA, and Springfield, MO.
Then on 22 May, flights to Billings, MT will start, followed on 23 May by Fargo, ND, Sioux Falls, SD, and Wichita, KS. Finally, flights to McAllen, TX, will be added on 24 May.
"We're extremely pleased to add Los Angeles and the Southern California region to our growing roster of leisure destinations," declared Maurice Gallagher, Allegiant Air president & CEO. "This is an exciting new market for our airline and our customers. We look forward to a successful relationship with the airport, area resorts and community leaders."
Despite the additional funding promised this week, the UK armed forces still look set to face cutbacks, and maintaining international commitments to AUKUS and GCAP may limit the options for other programmes.
