AirTran Airways has announced its traffic statistics for May 2009.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) fell by 11.1% to 1,542,338,000 from 1,734,069,000 in May 2008. Available seat miles (ASMs) were cut to 1,977,681,000, a 9.6% decrease on last May's figure of 2,187,920,000.
This capacity adjustment helped keep the load factor reasonably steady with the resultant 78.0% being only 1.3 percentage points down on May 2008's 79.3%.
