AirTran Airways has reported its preliminary traffic figures for the month of February 2009.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) dropped by 13.6% to 1,228,788,000 from 1,421,803,000 in February 2008, while capacity in available seat miles (ASMs) for the respective periods also decreased, this time by 9.1% to 1,655,527,000 from 1,820,375,000.
The airline's load factor for the month was 74.2%, down 3.9 percentage points from last February's 78.1%. Passengers carried numbered 1,623,030 for February 2009, down 14.0% from last year's figure of 1,886,206.
