airBaltic increases load factor in May

Latvian airline airBaltic has reported its passenger figures for May 2009, featuring a 4 percentage point increase in load factor.

Overall the airline carried 229,475 passengers in May 2009, a 4% increase over the 220,802 recorded in the same month in 2008. In May this year, the number of passengers at airBaltic's main base in Riga increased by 33% compared to the same period last year.

The passenger load factor in May 2009 was 66%, 4 percentage points more than the 52% in May 2008. During the first five months of 2009 airline’s passenger load factor was at a level of 63%, or 7 percentage points more than during the same period in 2008.

During the first five months of 2009, airBaltic carried a total of 947,180 passengers, up 9% on the same period in 2008, when the total number of passengers was 868,922.

The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was also at a of 94.2% in May 2009. This means that more than 94 of every 100 airBaltic flights in May departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
