AirAsia launches new Kuala Lumpur - Dhaka route
AirAsia has launched a Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka route, expanding network and enhancing the airline’s reach across the region. The new route will commence services beginning 12 March 2009 with direct daily flights from Kuala Lumpur and Dhaka respectively.
AirAsia Regional Head of Commercial, Kathleen Tan said, “With Dhaka now included in our network, we have another interesting holiday destination available to our guests. Almost unheard of by many, Dhaka is truly a city with very colourful history and rich cultural traditions.
"It is a destination with numerous beautiful getaways, a must for not only history aficionados but also those who long for a refreshing change in their holiday destinations. With our low fares and outstanding services, it will definitely stimulate more travel to and from these destinations, hence promoting tourism which is beneficial for the economy of both countries”
“Besides being a historic capital, Dhaka is also a thriving industrial centre renowned around the world as the leading rice and jute producer. Beautiful textile products are also manufactured in Dhaka, where visitors could indulge in fine jute, muslin and cotton fabrics. Establishing a solid link between these two locations may attract more investors and businessmen to come in and look for business opportunities as our low fares is indeed ‘budget-friendly’ and will be the main stimulus for business travel,” concludes Kathleen.
The company has also just taken delivery of its first Airbus A340-300. The aircraft, registered 9M-XAB was previously operated by Air Canada and will be used on the company's services to London Stansted which are due to begin in March.
