Air Berlin has announced its passenger and yield figures for May 2009.

During the month, Air Berlin increased its revenue per available seat kilometer (RASK) to 5.80 eurocents from 5.31 eurocents in May 2008, an increase of 9.3%.

The number of passengers transported was 7.7% down, decreasing to 2,507,227 passengers compared with May 2008's 2,716,646. This was due in part to a capacity reduction of 3.1%.

For the first five months of 2009, Air Berlin carried a total of 10,142,995 passengers, a 6% reduction on the corresponding period of 2008, when 10,790,381 passengers flew with the carrier.
