Six MH-60Rs to receive new ASW sensor
The compact Magnetic Anomaly Detection-Extended Role (MAD-XR) system from CAE will be installed on USN MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, after the Canadian company was awarded a subcontract from Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems.
CAE in an 18 November statement described MAD-XR as ‘a highly sensitive magnetometer designed to sense changes in the earth’s magnetic field’. It will be used on MH-60Rs as an ASW sensor.
Six USN helicopters will be integrated with the CAE MAD-XR during Phase 1 of the programme.
CAE will provide the MAD-XR system and it will also support lead systems integrator Lockheed Martin with non-recurring engineering and integration services.
The value of the contract and its completion date were undisclosed.
