ISR training programme for the IDF Mini UAV operators
For the first time in the IDF, Elbit Systems and Freedom UAV Technologies Ltd. conducted a 12 day of ISR training programme and mission interpretation course to the IDF on Elbit Systems’ Skylark I LE Mini UAV (MUAV) system, as part of the contract awarded by the IDF to Elbit Systems in January 2009 for the supply of Skylark MUAV for all IDF Ground Forces battalions.
The IDF used its already operational Elbit Systems’ Skylark MUAV systems, in gathering vital intelligence and enhancing collaboration and connectivity between the different operating forces.
Freedom UAV Technologies was selected by Elbit Systems to deploy Freedom Training center and conduct these courses. The training program for the MUAV (Mini UAV) that was run by Freedom’s ISR/UAV Academy is part of the Israeli Defense Forces operational training for Skylark MUAV operators.
This special programme for Skylark MUAV operators was deployed to one of the IAF bases and was built based on Freedom's Training Center facilities. This training center includes IR simulators, “hands on” instruction methodologies and various training applications implemented in the networked FQC (Freedom's Qualified Class)
The 3 week training was conducted by Freedom's instructors, a team of well experienced reserve ranking officers in the IAF and the IDF.
This new aspect of ISR training for UAV operators becomes one of the most significant elements at this time while the platforms and the systems are almost fully autonomous and the focus is on the mission performances aspects.
