Swedish FMV orders Falcon ROVs for Swedish Navy
Saab Seaeye will supply ten Falcon remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) under a new order announced on 12 November.
The vehicles will be used by the Swedish Navy. Saab will deliver the vehicles equipped with an enhanced surface control system for advanced operator control
The contract, which comprises the largest single order placed for the system, follows orders from several other navies around the world this year.
The Falcon ROV has application across a wide range of defence missions, as well as the energy and hydro industries, and in marine science.
The Falcon has intelligent control, high thrust power and precise manoeuvrability, and can operate sensors, tooling and complex systems. Each device on the vehicle can have its own microprocessor for individual control, and systems can be easily changed or added. The system also generates automatic diagnostics on power-up to ensure each device is fully interfaced and working correctly.
