PZL-Swidnik reveals optionally piloted version of the SW-4

PZL-Świdnik has taken the covers off an optionally piloted version (OPV) of its SW-4 light helicopter at the MSPO event in Kielce, Poland on 3 September.

The aircraft, called 'Solo', was developed by engineering teams from PZL-Swidnik and AgustaWestland, and has been designed for operations both from land and sea. The aircraft is expected to make its maiden unmanned flight in 2013, while a piloted flight will take place in the coming months.

According to PZL-Świdnik, the SW-4 in its UAS configuration will be able to perform many tasks such as maritime, border and battlefield surveillance; target acquisition and reconnaissance;
