PARIS 2009: Sagem, Stemme reveal new MALE UAV system

Based on a motor glider from German company Stemme that has been fitted with avionics, including the autonomous flight control system, from partner Sagem’s Sperwer tactical UAV, the Patroller medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV is being shown in public for the first time here at le Bourget. Sagem is showing a video of its recent first autonomous flight on its external display.

With a wing span of 18 m, the aircraft is 8.5 m long and has a maximum take-off weight of 1,050 kg, which its 115 hp Rotax 914 piston engine can power up to an operational ceiling of 25,000 ft
