Northrop Grumman to continue Global Hawk sustainment
Northrop Grumman has signed an agreement with the US Department of Defense that will see the company continue logistics and sustainment services for the US Air Force’s RQ-4 Global Hawk UAS fleet. The $306 million contract was announced on 12 November.
The agreement continues Northrop Grumman’s existing contract to perform maintenance, inventory management, parts procurement and other tasks necessary to ensure the availability of the Global Hawk fleet. The contract covers aircraft, mission control elements and forward operating location support.
Mick Jaggers, director, Global Hawk, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, said: ‘In a turbulent world, Global Hawk's unparalleled reliability has made it an indispensable asset to the US Air Force. Our team takes great pride in supporting the warfighter with an aircraft system that is ready and available whenever and wherever it's needed. We look forward to continuing this relationship with the air force.’
Global Hawk, carrying a variety of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensor payloads, is deployed by the US Air Force in support of antiterrorism, antipiracy, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, airborne communications and information-sharing missions.
