Dubai 2013: HammerHead demonstrator completes maiden flight
The P.1HH HammerHead UAV demonstrator achieved its first full flight on 14 November, Piaggio Aero and Selex ES have revealed.
Announcing the news at the Dubai Air Show, the companies said the test flight was conducted from Trapani AFB in Italy with the aircraft flying over the Mediterranean Sea for 12 minutes, reaching a top speed of 170kts and maximum altitude of 2,000ft.
The navigation system and manoeuvring capabilities in both manual and automatic modes were verified during the first flight, using the GCS and remote Vehicle Control and Management System (VCMS) that have been integrated onto the platform in
