Army outlines Gray Eagle lessons learned
Following the first full company deployment of the Gray Eagle UAS to Afghanistan in March, the US Army has described the learning process associated with developing the programme.
The army’s F/227 company deployed 12 aircraft in theatre in March. Prior to this, two groups of four aircraft were deployed through a quick reaction capability (QRC), one of which originated from a deployment in Iraq.
‘The unit has really matured over the past 45 days or so,’ Col Tim Baxter, project manager for UAS, told a media briefing in the Pentagon on 26 June, and added that F/227 is flying three
