New Eurocopter deliveries announced

Eurocopter has announced a number of new deliveries to customers in the civil and para-military market in the UK, Japan and France.

In a company statement issued 20 December 2011, Eurocopter outlined the delivery of an EC135 ‘l’Hélicoptère par Hermès’ to UK-based European corporate helicopter charter specialist, Capital Air Services. The customised EC135 is the result of a combined design programme carried out by Eurocopter and the House of Hermès. It is the fifth to join the Capital Air Services fleet.

On 22 December 2011, Eurocopter delivered two EC225 aircraft to commercial air transportation services group, Héli-Union. According to Eurocopter, the EC225s are configured for offshore operations and will be deployed for transportation services for oil and gas companies. The aircraft are the first EC225s to join Héli-Union’s fleet, which already consists of Eurocopter’s AS350, EC145, AS365, AS332. In addition, the company has also ordered four of Eurocopter’s new EC175s, for which deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013.

The EC225 was also ordered by The Tokyo Fire Department according to a 22 December 2011 announcement, following an open competition to expand the organisations rotor craft fleet. The aircraft, along with a full complement of mission equipment, will be delivered in 2013.

According to Eurocopter, the EC225 will be delivered with equipment including a fire-fighting system with belly-mounted water tank, an emergency medical interior accommodating stretchers and emergency medical intervention kit, along with avionics for all-weather operations and search & rescue capabilities. It is expected to be assigned transport, support and rescue missions throughout the Tokyo prefecture, which covers an area from the Tokyo urban environment to the western mountainous boundaries and the remote Hachijoma island in the south. In addition to deploying from ground-based landing sites, the helicopter will be using rooftop helipads in its operational duties.
