Tigres go into action
Two weeks after their arrival in Afghanistan, the French Army's Tigre attack helicopters are now ready for action.
In the last few days, the aircraft have carried out weapons firing certification, ready to begin supporting the French military deployed in RCC Capital (Kabul) and other coalition forces working under the operations of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
The Tigres from the 5e RHC at Pau arrived in Kabul on July 26 courtesy of an Antonov An-124 transport which flew the helicopters from Tarbes.
The decision to send the helicopter to an operational theatre was announced on June 5 by French Defence minister Herve Morin.
