Russian Helicopters offers Middle East operators new approaches to aftersale service and Maintenance of Russian-made helicopters

17 November 2009 - 8:00 by the Shephard News Team

Russian Helicopters has held the first regional conference entitled New Approaches to Aftersale Service and Maintenance of Mi Helicopters.

It was held at Dubai Airshow 2009, taking place at Airport Expo, Dubai, from 15 through 19 November. The conference brought together representatives of the Russian industry, heads of Russian-made helicopter operators from the Middle East, and delegates from regional air authorities.

Being a rotorcraft manufacturer and dealer in rotorcraft and related services, Russian Helicopters is seeking to increase deliveries to the Middle East and ensure reliable helicopter operations.

Russian Helicopters presented its joint venture with Airfreight Aviation Ltd., International RotorCraft Services, to New Approaches to Aftersale Service and Maintenance of Mi Helicopters participants. The new company will service Russian-made rotorcraft at its base in Sharjah and MRO centres all over the region. The new joint venture will help the interaction of design engineers and dealers with operators, offer material and technical support to local operators.

The geographic location of the UAE makes it a bridge between Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Its strategic location defines its importance in international transportation. This is one of the reasons why Russian Helicopters decided to hold the regional conference outside Russia.
Russian Helicopters greatly values its long-time partners and gives them top priority in responding to service and maintenance needs. 600 Russian-made rotorcraft are currently operated in the Middle East and North Africa.

A significant part - about 200 of these helicopters - are operated by member states of the global anti-terrorism coalition and state authorities of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Russian Helicopters will deliver at least 50 Mi-17 helicopters to the region in 2009-2010, and the estimate is 100-120 more deliveries of Russian-made rotorcraft by 2015.

"While existing customer geography remains, customers from a number of new countries are beginning to appear," Andrei Shibitov, CEO, Russian Helicopters, said in his speech at the conference. "In this respect I would like to yet again confirm that we are ready and able to deliver civil transport helicopters in necessary configuration within a settled time period. I want to say once again: we carry out our work in strict accordance with the schedule. This allows us to deliver helicopters on time to operators in different regions of the world, including countries of the Middle East."

In value for money, efficiency and reliability of operations in mountainous and hot environments, Russian helicopters are unrivalled by products of global partners. These advantages are confirmed by the popularity of Russian-made helicopters among countries of the anti-terrorism coalition.

International RotorCraft Services, the joint company created by Russian Helicopters and Airfreight Aviation, will offer service and repair of Russian helicopters engaged in transport missions of Russian partner states on the anti-terrorism coalition. To this end International RotorCraft Services will soon open a service centre in Afghanistan.

Russian Helicopters, JSC is an affiliated company of UIC Oboronprom. It is the managing body of the following helicopter industry enterprises: Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, Kamov, Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, Kazan Helicopters, Rostvertol, Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company, Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise, Vpered Moscow Machine-Building Plant, Stupino Machine Production Plant, Reductor-PM and Helicopter Service Company (VSK).
