Bond Air Services EC135 Fleet marks 50,000th hour
Bond Air Services, the leading Gloucestershire-based air services operator, is celebrating a key industry milestone after completing its 50,000th flying hour with the Eurocopter EC135 – making the firm one of the largest and most experienced EC135 operators in Europe.
The aviation organisation accumulated its first EC135 flying hour when it took delivery of their first EC135T2+, G-SASA, in October 2000. Nine years later it seems fitting that having recently accumulated its 7,000th hour, it is the same aircraft that has reached this 50,000 hour milestone, whilst carrying out air ambulance operations for the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Chris Greenhill, managing director of Bond Air Services, said:” The 50,000th hour for our EC135 fleet is an important moment for Bond, confirming our belief in this flexible and capable aircraft. Our customers are benefitting from this high specification helicopter that has proved not only reliable but highly adaptive to their needs.”
In January 2010, Bond will further strengthen its fleet of EC135s by taking delivery of their nineteenth EC135 helicopter, taking the Bond Aviation Group fleet to 38. This latest development forms part of the aviation group’s recent announcement of the award of new air support contracts worth £153 million, generating 80 jobs across the UK.
Bond’s EC135 fleet is contracted to provide support for emergency medical services, police aerial support operations, marine support, media services, under slung load work and executive charter services.
