US Navy christens destroyer USS John Finn
The US Navy christened its newest guided missile destroyer, USS John Finn (DDG 113), at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi on 2 May.
USS John Finn is the 63rd Arleigh Burke class destroyer and will conduct various operations, including peacetime presence, crisis management, sea control and power projection.
The destroyer will be capable of simultaneously engaging in air, surface and sub-surface battles and will feature various offensive and defensive weapons to support maritime warfare, including integrated air and missile defence capabilities.
This is the 29th Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. The keel was laid in November 2013 and the ship was launched on 28 March 2015.
