Farnborough 2010: Dynamic Aviation pitches tailored aerial ISR solution to NATO
US company Dynamic Aviation has announced its intention to roll out its bespoke tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solution to the international market.
Speaking to Unmanned Vehicles at the Farnborough Airshow on 22 July, president and chief executive officer, Michael Stoltzfus said he was 'very open to hearing from other governments' including NATO and more specifically, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) members.
Since 2004, Dynamic Aviation has provided an all-up tactical ISR capability for the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps for operations in the Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operations, Stoltzfus said.
Unable to comment on mission specifics, he told UV that Dynamic Aviation's 150-strong fleet of fixed-wing aircraft include King Air 90 and 200 systems; Bombardier Dash 8s; McDonnell Douglas DC-9 and MD-80 airframes.
Describing how US Department of Defense ISR aircraft were full tasked, Dynamic Aviation has been tasked to carry electro-optical/ infrared and radar payloads including synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors. 'These are leading edge sensors and government furnished equipment,' Stoltzfus explained.
Unable to comment on the number of airframes operating as part of CENTCOM, he described how the company was dealing with the DoD and contractors including SAIC and Northrop Grumman. 'These are mission specific solutions for tactical ISR and sometimes include new integration of sensors,' Stoltzfus told UV.
From its headquarters in Bridgewater, Virginia, Dynamic Aviation said it could deliver a bespoke tactical ISR solution 'in theatre' within 90 days. It will fly and maintain the aircraft as well as operating payloads. He refused to comment on how information was disseminated to other users.
A company spokesperson added: 'As military organizations continue to have needs for unique solutions in ISR that are mission-specific to combat new and changing threats, it remains critical for industry partners to be able to provide fast, turnkey solutions that can be activated quickly and effectively.'
