Eurosatory 2012: Gilat Satcom launches Iridium-based systems

Gilat Satcom has launched the Suricate Iridium link and Iridium Tactical Radio Dynamic Relay System.

Announced during the Eurosatory 2012 conference in Paris, France, the Suricate connects Iridium users that are located in underground, closed, and remote facilities, while the Iridium Tactical Radio connects the headquarters to the field tactical radio via the Iridium network.

'The problem with satellite phones is that they need to have a sky view,' Ami Schneider, head of the mobile satellite division at the company, told Shephard.
