Australia declares Wedgetail fully operational

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has declared its six Boeing E-7A Wedgetail Early Warning Aircraft fully operational.

The type’s ‘entire capability’, from the actual aircraft to logistics, management, sustainment, facilities and training, are now fully operational and able to support operations, Australia’s Department of Defence said in a statement.

According to Deputy Chief of the RAAF, AVM Gavin Davies, the Wedgetail provides Australia with the ability to control and survey vast areas of operations, and contribute to Australia’s modern and fully integrated combat force under Plan Jericho.
