Adapx automates field intelligence gathering with digital pens
Adapx, the company that is changing the way mobile teams collect data and collaborate, today announced that its Capturx solutions for field intelligence gathering have received an "excellent" grade in warfighter utility during Empire Challenge 2010. Empire Challenge (EC) is an annual joint and coalition intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) interoperability demonstration focused on evaluating near-term capabilities that can be delivered rapidly to the warfighter. Capturx was assessed on its ability to enable instant recording and sharing of intelligence written by warfighters on paper maps, forms and notebooks using digital pens which securely transmit and integrate data into ISR systems.
The Empire Challenge Assessment Report noted that:
◦"Adapx improved upon traditional collection methods in several different areas. It allowed for tactical users to reduce the weight of the pack and to quickly record data without calling it in and risking security breaches."
◦"Adapx allowed for users to capture actionable data from a field environment that was accurate, complete, and timely."
◦"Adapx was able to accomplish all intended objectives. The products produced by this technology can be of great help to operations. The features of this system improve upon traditional collection methods in terms of ease-of-use, weight reduction, and OPSEC."
With Capturx software, data written on paper maps and forms with digital pens (fully encrypted) in the field can be instantly integrated into central ArcGIS and GeoPDF files for immediate reporting, analysis and decision making. Data collected on standard paper forms and in paper notebooks is instantly integrated into Microsoft Office OneNote and Excel, accessible in the original handwriting, sketches, and as converted data. The improved situational awareness from Capturx provides warfighters with better and faster decision making, without the extra weight and distractions of complex mobile devices.
"We are very pleased to have been both included in Empire Challenge and to have received such a positive assessment," said Ken Schneider, CEO of Adapx. "The high potential demonstrated by Capturx as a Joint ISR solution reflects years of Adapx solution development with DARPA, the US Army, and the Intelligence Community."
The complete suite of Capturx products is included in the US Army ENFIRE toolkit 5.0 (Engineering Field Planning, Reconnaissance, Surveying, and Sketching Set) Program of Record. Adapx is also a strategic partner with In-Q-Tel, the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the broader Intelligence Community.
